All That Jazz

Sorry for the long radio silence! I’ve had a ton of stuff going on: getting engaged, a new (fabulous) job, and I’m moving with my wonderful fiance soon!

It’s been a slow week at work so I’ve been listening to Pandora a bit more. I’ve been trying out a few new stations and discovered “Showtunes” – it’s amazing.

It plays a lot of my favorite Disney tunes along with selections from some of my favorite musicals including: Wicked, Rent, and Chicago. Yesterday afternoon I had “All That Jazz” stuck in my head all afternoon. This morning I woke up with “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan stuck in there. =)

I kept the musical mood going last night too. I had to run some errands to prep for my little brother’s wedding next Friday, and I had my iPod playing the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.

Today I am Thankful for:

1. My soon-to-be official sister-in-law Shelby Marie.

2. My best friend Lindi, her brand new baby, and their good health.

3. My amazing fiance – I don’t know how he deals with me and my quirkiness

2nd Shift Woes

Working 2nd shift is hard on my social life. I go in to work at 2:30 p.m. and my shift ends at 11 p.m. I go home, make dinner for myself and the fella and then we usually spend time together talking or watching t.v. until around 2 a.m. I get up the next day around noonish and get ready to go right back to work.

I rarely have time to go out and socialize with friends, visit my family, or have an actual date with my boyfriend.

However, tonight the fella and I will blow raspberries and yell, “Nana nana boo boo!,” at my awful work schedule and go see a midnight showing of Thor 2 (in 3D!!).

Take that 2nd shift. Take that. ;pImage

Today I am Thankful for:

1. Family and friends that put up with my schedule.

2. Midnight movie showings.

3. Payday!

Baby Blanket City

I’m back again!

I’m a little embarrassed by the lack of blogging continuity the last few months but I’m not going to let that stop me from posting whenever I finally have both the time and the inclination at the same time. 😉

Sheep(ish) Yellow(ish)

Sheep(ish) Yellow(ish)

I’ve been doing a lot of crocheting lately. I’ve been mostly working on baby blankets. I’ve finished two and currently have two in progress, and they are super cute! But it’s also been brought to my attention (by my momma) that they might be a wee bit too small. I’ve been using about two skeins of yarn a blanket so I’m going to increase it to three and see how that looks.

I’m using Vicki Howell’s Sheep(ish) yarn in Yellow(ish) for the one I’m working on now (I love Howell’s yarn lines – the colors are fantastic!). I’ve gone through two skeins already and just started using my third one. These are only 3 oz. skeins of yarn so I have a fourth one just in case.

The yarn came out of my yarn stash, which is currently residing at my folk’s house. I’m trying to whittle it down as quickly as possible so they don’t have to store it for me. (Thank you Mommy & Daddy for storing so much of my stuff!)

I’m also trying not to buy new yarn while I’m working through my stash but while I was at Hobby Lobby the other day there were a few gorgeous skeins that called to me. I’m going to use a few of them for more baby blankets, which my mom will put in her etsy store for me ( And with this one amazing variegated yarn I picked up, I am making a blanket for me and my love to go on our bed. It’s got pink in it but he said he’s cool with it. It’s warm and soft and beautiful – all of the colors in it makes me think of an old timey patchwork quilt.

Today I am Thankful for:

1. Amtrak – I recently discovered that it only costs $28 to get from Fort Worth to Austin by train. Much cheaper than driving. This allowed me to visit my grandparents last weekend and I see myself making the trip much more frequently in the future.

2. My soon-to-be sister-in-law, Shelby. She heard of a job opportunity at her new job and passed it along to me. Without her I would not have gotten to interview for an amazing job yesterday. Fingers crossed that I get it! I should know by Tuesday.

3. My wonderful past photography clients that request my services again and again. Thank you all so much for liking what I do and letting me be a part of your precious memories.
